"Despite what the 125mm of rear travel has us thinking, the Norco Optic isn't our Lycra-clad buddy's cross-country bike. The Optic is designed for taking on hard-charging descents, pedaling right back up to the top, and doing it all over again. The frame is a combination of a lightweight carbon front triangle and a durable aluminum rear triangle giving us the perfect balance of strength and responsiveness. The Horst Link rear suspension system gets paired with a custom-tuned Fox Performance Elite FLOAT DPX2 rear shock making the 125mm of travel seem endless on the descents. This gives us a consistent and intuitive ride feel all over the mountain without sacrificing traction on gnarly climbs. An aggressive geometry just further reinforces that the Optic is all about speed with a slack 65-degree headtube angle for stability at speed and a steep 76-degree seat tube angle to put us in a climbing position that's not only powerful but comfortable too. Plus, we get size-specific chainstays to deliver a consistent, playful ride feel across the entire size range, no matter how tall we are.
The Norco Optic C2 build utilizes smartly chosen components with speed at the forefront. The reliable Shimano XT 12-speed drivetrain shifts smoothly and has a wide-range cassette to get us up and down the mountain efficiently. We'll have plenty of stopping power and speed modulation to navigate techy sections thanks to a pair of 4-piston Shimano XT brakes, while a pair of 29-inch Stan's Flow S1 wheels give us the confidence to tackle just about any obstacle on the trail. A 140mm Fox Performance Elite 36 fork helps keep us locked in on our line thanks to its torsional stability, plus it has the highly tunable GRIP2 damper so that we can dial in our suspension to suit our riding style. For those of us looking to add a trail ripper to our quiver or one bike to do it all, the Norco Optic C2 Shimano Mountain Bike is short on travel, not on fun."

"Chris Cocalis first introduced the Switchblade in 2001 as the do-it-all all-mountain bike under his brand Titus. 23 years later, the Switchblade is now in its third iteration as one of the most popular models in the Pivot Cycles lineup. "Yeti makes its debut into the world of e-mountain bikes with the all-new 160 E. While there’s no denying they took their sweet time getting there, Yeti wanted to be sure they got it right, and after throwing a leg over the 160 E and knocking out 30 miles in less than half the time it normally takes, we feel they might just have gotten it perfect. Inspired by their world-class race bikes, the 160 E comes equipped with 29-inch wheels front and rear, a high-end TURQ carbon frame, a proven Shimano drive system, and 6-inches of travel propelled by a new e-specific suspension platform called Sixfinity. It’s a bike that’s ideal for seeking out new terrain in hard-to-reach places, and can easily conquer whatever gnarliness we find when we get there.
Looking at the 160 E, we notice the Sixfinity suspension layout looks vastly different than the Switch Infinity system that’s earned the brand such an esteemed reputation for its positive ride quality. Gone is the Infinity link, instead replaced by a 6-bar linkage that’s better able to handle the added weight and speed that comes along with having a motor and battery. Sixfinity still operates in a similar manner to Switch Infinity, moving upward to the inflection point, and then switching directions and moving back downward in the remainder of the travel. This means the anti-squat values remain similar and allow for a smooth, well-supported pedaling platform. That being said, Sixfinity allows for an adjustable leverage rate, and the bike comes with a 3-position flip-chip that lets us tune the bike to be ultra-plush, ultra-efficient, or right in the middle with a well-balanced middle setting.
As for the motor and battery, Yeti opts for the Shimano EP8 system that’s already well-proven in the field. This means no proprietary parts to worry about, as the Shimano system is readily supported worldwide. The 630-Watt hour integrated battery provides hassle-free off-the-bike charging and has more than enough juice to propel us into the mountains for hours at a time without needing to worry about our battery status. A discreet button on the top tube activates the machine, while the full-color display allows for easy mode changes as well as Bluetooth integration with your phone or GPS.
